Joy for the journey

There are days and then there are D A Y S.....It's all part of the journey. Sometimes I lose sight of the Joy and I have to go back and remember what the journey is about and who it is about. I was reminded again that this is not my home, this journey is taking me to my ultimate home, Heaven. I've been reading a book entitled Heaven by Randy Alcorn. It's very good, the book challenges me and makes me dig deep into the word to find out what heaven and eternity is all about.

When life seems overwhelming or I feel like God isn't hearing me, all I have to do is go to the word and find out the truth! Psalm 139:7-10 tellit it like it really is; "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."

I am so encouraged by these words, the answer to the question is NOWHERE!! I can't get away from His Spirit and I don't want to. I need His presence 24/7. My hope is in the Lord and my Joy is in His presence.

Blessings

The Journey

Lord, I can't do this alone
I need your help
I'm weak
I'm lonely
I'm unbearably sad
But then I remember.....
My God is With me! My God is Mighty to Save! My God Takes Great Delight in Me! My God Quiets Me with His Love! My God Rejoices Over Me with Singing! Zephaniah 3:17
Lord, I can't do this alone... and you never leave me
I need your help...and you help me
I'm weak...but you are strong
I'm lonely...but when I seek you I find you
I'm unbearably sad...but you give me the oil of joy for mourning
Thank you Lord that I'm not on this journey alone!

Summer is almost upon us. Once in awhile I actually see the sun! My family and I are preparing to go to Seabrook, a beautiful vacation town on our very own WA coast. We had a blast last year and we're all so anxious to go back and relax, relax, relax! My grandsons are very excited to go. Yesterday Sam asked his cousin Liam if he was going to Seabrook and Liam jumped up and down and said YES! They have plans, I'm telling you. They're going to ride bikes and dig holes at the beach and run as fast and as far as they can. They're bringing trucks and shovels and buckets, so much energy. Look out Seabrook here we come!

Nairobi Kenya with Compassion International

Mathare Slums, Compassion brings hope and help

Tea with leadership development students, the hotel was very helpful and the girls were wonderful!

My sponsored child, Wanja. I was able to spend the afternoon with her, it was wonderful. She's smart and pretty and has a bright future thanks to the Compassion sponsorship program.

Home visit with the child survival program

We visited the Compassion "Country Office" in Nairobi. This is us with the director. Every letter from the children and to the children go through the country office. They are translated and sent. It's a huge job and they do it so well! The children we met cherish letters from sponsors. They are so thankful for everything they receive. They don't take anything for granted. Sponsors make a difference!

We're back! I'm so sorry it took this long to post something, I have no excuse. But oh my what a wonderful trip we had! The people, the landscapes, the beauty of nature, the people! We have nothing but wonderful memories of our trip with Compassion International to Nairobi Kenya. The sponsored children we met were AWESOME and the volunteers who work with the kids....words cannot describe the wonderful work they do. I've added a few of our pictures and I'll be adding more in days to come. Lynette

Going To Kenya

I know, I know, I haven't been nearly as faithful as I should doing posts on my blog. I have a really good excuse though! Teacup Ministries is going with Compassion International to Kenya. Yes, that Kenya, the one in Africa. We leave tomorrow and we'll be gone 10 days. It's been crazy busy getting everything and everybody ready for me to leave. It's been fun though and I'm really excited about what God has in store for us halfway around the globe! I will be sure to update with pictures when I get back. Blessings Lynette
